Star Trek Secret Lair Superdrop: Which Drop Is Worth Buying
Four of the five drops are art purchases. Lower Decks is the one whose cards cost about what the drop does, and Thrasios is most of that.
Verdict
Buy Lower Decks if you'd play Thrasios or Kambal: its five cards cost $29.52 as the cheapest singles on November 1, against $29.99 for the drop. In foil, tlhIngan maH is the clear win. Buy New Worlds, Beam Me Up and KHAAAAAAAAN for the art, not the cards.

The Star Trek Secret Lair, which Wizards calls Set Phasers to Superdrop, goes on sale November 9 at 9 a.m. PT (noon ET), only at MagicSecretLair.com. Five drops are revealed, each $29.99 non-foil or $39.99 foil. A sixth is still to come; on November 1 Wizards' announcement still listed five.
Part 8 of 8The story so far: Star Trek MTG, from spoilers to release
We priced every card in the five drops against its cheapest existing paper printing on November 1. Only one non-foil drop gets close to its price in singles: Lower Decks, at $29.52 against $29.99. The other four are art purchases first. Beam Me Up and KHAAAAAAAAN cost about three times what their cards do, and New Worlds' ten basic lands are worth 90 cents. This is market commentary, not financial advice.
Which Star Trek Secret Lair drop is worth buying
| Drop | What's in it | Singles, non-foil | Singles, foil | Our call |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lower Decks | Inti, Kambal, Silas Renn, Thrasios and Weatherlight, reskinned as the Lower Decks crew and their ship | $29.52 | $56.70 | Buy if you'd play Thrasios or Kambal |
| tlhIngan maH | Demand Answers, Relentless Assault, Seething Song, War's Toll, Warstorm Surge; reversible, one side in Klingon | $22.88 | $115.76 | Buy the foil; the non-foil only for red decks |
| Beam Me Up | Eerie Interlude, Momentary Blink, Essence Flux, Conjurer's Closet; all reversible | $10.49 | $20.68 | Art only |
| KHAAAAAAAAN | Wrath of the Skies, Commandeer, Illusionist's Gambit, Buried Alive, Genesis Wave, Fracture | $9.00 | $20.17 | Skip unless The Wrath of Khan is your film |
| New Worlds | Two of each basic land, art by Alayna Danner | $0.90 | $1.16 | Pure art buy |
Singles are the cheapest copy outside Secret Lair, The List and promos, from Scryfall's US prices on November 1. Every drop is $29.99 non-foil and $39.99 foil. The KHAAAAAAAAN foil total covers five cards, because no foil Illusionist's Gambit has a price.
The foil column needs one warning. tlhIngan maH's $115.76 includes a Mirrodin foil Seething Song at $76.30, the cheapest foil outside Secret Lair. An earlier Secret Lair foil of the card sells for $21.60; count that one instead and the five foils come to about $61. That's still well above $39.99, and manavalue.org got the same $61.01 on October 28. Foil Lower Decks is also cheaper than its singles, $39.99 against $56.70 by our count, though manavalue had the two level at $39.98.
Where the money sits in each drop
Chart: BaseMTG. Source: Scryfall USD prices on November 1, 2026; drop prices from Wizards.
In every drop, one or two cards carry the total. Thrasios is $18.07 of Lower Decks' $29.52, or 61%. War's Toll ($10.92) and Seething Song ($8.78) are $19.70 of tlhIngan maH's $22.88. Eerie Interlude is $6.73 of Beam Me Up's $10.49, while Momentary Blink costs 14 cents. Commandeer is the priciest KHAAAAAAAAN card at $3.50.
Play counts don't track those prices. EDHREC lists Seething Song in 377,015 decks, Buried Alive in 337,082, Demand Answers in 300,905 and Conjurer's Closet in 284,285. Leaving out the basic lands, they're the four most-played cards in the superdrop, and none costs more than $8.78. War's Toll, the priciest tlhIngan maH card, is in 29,543. If you already own the staples, these drops sell you a second copy in new art.
A second price source agrees on the order. manavalue.org, pricing TCGplayer market on October 28, had Lower Decks at $28.01, tlhIngan maH at $23.23, Beam Me Up at $10.98 and KHAAAAAAAAN at $9.33. None of the new printings has a price yet: Scryfall shows none for the 16 it has listed, and Beam Me Up and tlhIngan maH aren't on Scryfall at all so far.
Lower Decks, card by card
The five Lower Decks printings, Secret Lair numbers 2739 to 2743, art by Robby Cook, Derek Charm and Chris Fenoglio. Card images: Wizards of the Coast, via Scryfall.
Thrasios, Triton Hero, printed here as Tendi, is the reason to buy. For {4} it scries 1, then reveals the top card: a land goes onto the battlefield tapped, anything else is drawn. EDHREC counts it in 43,287 decks. Its cheapest copy on November 1 was the Final Fantasy: Through the Ages printing at $18.07. One reply in the reveal thread on r/magicTCG, from u/GulliasTurtle, put it plainly: "Thrasios is in desperate need of a reprint."
Thrasios has partner, and so does Silas Renn, printed as Rutherford. The drop holds a complete blue-black-green pair of commanders, which a commenter spotted on reveal day: "Tendi, Rutherford partner, cute." Silas is in only 7,203 EDHREC decks and costs $2.27, but tournament players pair both cards with Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh. On November 1, EDHTop16's tournament table had Rograkh with Thrasios third and Rograkh with Silas Renn fourth, the same order as in our cEDH explainer. Our partner commander tier list, ranked by EDHREC deck counts, has Thrasios near the top as well.
Kambal, Profiteering Mayor, as Boimler, is the second real card. It copies tokens your opponents make, once each turn, and drains each opponent for 1 when your tokens enter. It's in 128,713 decks and costs $6.64. Weatherlight as the Cerritos ($1.38) is there for the art.
Inti, Seneschal of the Sun, as Mariner, split the thread. One player called it a card that "seems good but he's a trap imo"; another commenter answered, "Inti is a strong card in Discard? Not a trap." At $1.16 it doesn't move the math either way.
Our pick: if you'd put Thrasios or Kambal in a deck, Lower Decks costs what those two and three more legends cost as singles. If you only want Kambal, buy the $6.64 single. A $29.99 printing of an $18 card can also pull its older printings down once the drop ships; our Secret Lair reprint risk guide covers how that has gone before.
The $199.99 promo and the $99 shipping line
Wizards gives one foil Return of the Wildspeaker
ecc-115
ecc-115Shop on TCGplayer, printed as "Transporter Boondoggle", for every $199.99 spent, while supplies last. The five revealed drops come to $149.95 in non-foil and $199.95 in foil: four cents short. With one copy of each, no mix of foil and non-foil reaches $199.99. You'd need a sixth item, either a second copy of a drop or the unrevealed sixth drop, whose price isn't announced.
Don't add a drop just for the promo. Return of the Wildspeaker's cheapest printings were $1.72 non-foil and $5.42 foil on November 1. The Transporter Boondoggle art itself has no market price yet.
Free shipping is easier to reach. The Secret Lair support page says orders over $99, pre-tax and after discounts, ship free for US customers (over €99 in the EU store, £89 in the UK). Three non-foil drops are $89.97 and pay shipping. Two non-foil plus one foil come to $99.97 and ship free, so the foil upgrade on a three-drop order costs $10 and clears the line.
Getting through the November 9 queue
The pre-queue opens at 8 a.m. PT, one hour before the sale. You enter it by adding any product to your cart and going to checkout. At 9 a.m. everyone already in the pre-queue gets a random place in line; anyone who reaches checkout after 9 joins in order of arrival. So joining at 8:05 gets you nothing over joining at 8:55, as long as you're in before 9.
A full cart doesn't hold anything. Wizards: "Adding products to your cart does not reserve them. Products are only secured once checkout is completed." Then plan on waiting. The support page says an order "can take up to 3 weeks" to ship after the estimated release date in your confirmation email.
What to buy instead
If you want one card, the single is cheaper in every drop. Thrasios alone is $18.07, so Lower Decks charges $11.92 for the other four legends and the art. War's Toll is $10.92 and Seething Song $8.78. A blink deck gets all four Beam Me Up cards for $10.49. Warstorm Surge
fdc-186
fdc-186Shop on TCGplayer is 50 cents and Genesis Wave
fdn-221
fdn-221Shop on TCGplayer 38 cents.
If you want Star Trek cards to play rather than reskinned reprints, the main set arrives November 13, with Arena on November 10 (release dates and products). The four Star Trek Commander decks each give you a whole Star Trek deck, and we priced the Collector Booster box too. The last Secret Lair we priced the same way, KPop Demon Hunters, sold for less than its singles; none of these five does in non-foil.
How we checked: drop contents, prices, promo and queue rules from Wizards' October 27 announcement; shipping terms from the Secret Lair support page; card prices, text and printings from Scryfall on November 1, 2026, cross-checked against EDHREC's store prices and manavalue.org's October 28 totals; deck counts from EDHREC on November 1 (scripts and output in data/sims/2026-11-01-set-phasers).
