Boros Dragons Standard deck: What It Is in Standard (quick answer)
Boros Dragons in Standard is a red-white deck classified by two rules: it uses only red and white cards, and it plays Smaug the Magnificent. The core combines cheap flying creatures, Dragon payoffs, Treasure production, direct damage, and lands that support the Dragon curve.
It wins by turning Dragon entries into pressure, then using flying and haste to make attacks matter immediately. Published lists share 15 nonbasic card names.

Overview: Boros Dragons Standard deck After Reality Fracture
The sample covers five Magic Online events from October 1 to October 5, 2026: Standard Challenge 16 on October 1 (34 players), Standard Challenge 32 on October 2 (45), a second Standard Challenge 32 that day (48), Standard Challenge 16 on October 4 (38), and Standard Challenge 32 Special on October 5 (59). These events contain 224 player entries. Each page publishes its top 32 decklists, giving 160 lists.
BaseMTG sorted the lists by key-card rules: Boros Dragons means a red-white list that plays Smaug the Magnificent. This is a hand classification, not an official label, and the sample is top-32 only. The archetype appeared 5, 2, 3, 2, and 2 times across the events, for 14 lists, or 8.8%. Three reached the top eight, none finished first, and the best finish was second of 34 players.
The events were the first days Reality Fracture cards were present in Magic Online Standard events, but no card in these lists was first printed in Reality Fracture. The lists share 15 nonbasic card names, so every nonbasic name in the best-placed main deck appears in all 14 lists except Erode. The best-placed main deck groups as follows:
| Role | Cards | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Creatures | 4 Clarion Conqueror, 4 Magmatic Hellkite, 4 Momo, Friendly Flier, 4 Nova Hellkite, 4 Sarkhan, Dragon Ascendant, 4 Smaug the Magnificent, 2 Twinmaw Stormbrood, 4 Voice of Victory | 30 |
| Spells | 4 Burst Lightning, 2 Erode | 6 |
| Lands | 3 Cavern of Souls, 4 Inspiring Vantage, 3 Maelstrom of the Spirit Dragon, 1 Mountain, 4 Multiversal Passage, 1 Plains, 4 Sacred Foundry, 4 Sunbillow Verge | 24 |
The best-placed list has 36 nonland cards and 24 lands. Mana values come from Scryfall.
Check the land package against the mana base guide, especially the roles of Sacred Foundry, Inspiring Vantage, Sunbillow Verge, Multiversal Passage, and Cavern of Souls in this list.

Why Boros Dragons Standard deck Works
The lists rely on cheap flying spells, Treasure-powered Dragon pressure, and entry effects that affect the board before combat.
Smaug the Magnificent, Sarkhan, Dragon Ascendant and Nova Hellkite
eoe-148
eoe-148Shop on TCGplayer, each played as a four-of in the best-placed list.
Momo and Sarkhan make Dragon turns compound
Momo, Friendly Flier costs {W}, has flying, and is a 1/1. The first non-Lemur creature spell with flying you cast each turn costs {1} less. Whenever another creature you control with flying enters, Momo gets +1/+1 until end of turn.
Sarkhan, Dragon Ascendant costs {1}{R} and is a 2/2. When Sarkhan enters, you may behold a Dragon, either by choosing one you already control or by revealing one from your hand. If you do, Sarkhan creates a Treasure. Whenever a Dragon you control enters, Sarkhan gets a +1/+1 counter, then becomes a Dragon and gains flying until end of turn.
Treasures turn Smaug's attacks into reach
Smaug the Magnificent is a 4/3 Dragon with flying and haste. Whenever Smaug attacks, Smaug deals damage equal to the number of Treasures you control to any target. At the beginning of your upkeep, Smaug creates a Treasure token, so a Smaug that survives an upkeep creates the resource that its next attack counts.
Sarkhan can create the first Treasure when a Dragon is available to behold. Maelstrom of the Spirit Dragon adds {C}, or one mana of any color that can be spent only to cast a Dragon or Omen spell. For {4} and a tap, its controller can sacrifice it to search for a Dragon card, reveal it, and put it into hand.
Haste and entry effects change the combat window
Nova Hellkite is a 4/5 Dragon with flying and haste. When Nova Hellkite enters, it deals 1 damage to target creature an opponent controls. Its warp cost is {2}{R}; when cast that way, it is exiled at the beginning of the next end step, then may be cast from exile on a later turn.
Magmatic Hellkite is another 4/5 flying Dragon, costing {2}{R}{R}. When it enters, it destroys target nonbasic land an opponent controls, then that land's controller searches for a basic land, puts it onto the battlefield tapped with a stun counter, and shuffles. Clarion Conqueror costs {2}{W}, is a 3/3 flying Dragon, and prevents activated abilities of artifacts, creatures, and planeswalkers from being activated.
Voice of Victory adds a timing restriction. It is a 1/3 Human Bard for {1}{W}; when it attacks, mobilize 2 creates two tapped and attacking 1/1 red Warrior tokens, sacrificed at the beginning of the next end step. Opponents can't cast spells during your turn.
Step-by-Step: How to Play Boros Dragons Standard deck
1. Start with the mana. Play lands with their entry conditions in mind. Inspiring Vantage enters tapped unless you control two or fewer other lands, Multiversal Passage and Sacred Foundry
eoe-256
eoe-256Shop on TCGplayer can each enter tapped unless you pay 2 life, and Sunbillow Verge produces red only if you control a Mountain or Plains.
2. Establish the cheap flying body. Momo, Friendly Flier costs {W}, and the first non-Lemur creature spell with flying you cast each turn costs {1} less. When another flying creature enters, Momo gets +1/+1 until end of turn, so the order of Momo and later flying entries determines which turn receives that temporary bonus.
3. Turn a Dragon reveal into mana. When Sarkhan enters, behold a Dragon by choosing one you control or revealing one from your hand. If you do, create a Treasure, then use later Dragon entries to put +1/+1 counters on Sarkhan and make Sarkhan a flying Dragon until end of turn.
4. Use hasty entries before committing to a long turn. Nova Hellkite deals 1 damage to a creature an opponent controls when it enters and has flying and haste; its warp cost is {2}{R}, with the stated exile and later-cast timing. Magmatic Hellkite destroys a nonbasic land on entry, while the replacement basic enters tapped with a stun counter.
5. Attack with the Treasures you built. Smaug the Magnificent creates a Treasure at the beginning of upkeep and deals damage equal to the number of Treasures you control to any target when it attacks. Voice of Victory can mobilize two temporary Warriors, and opponents can't cast spells during your turn, so one attack can combine both effects.

What Rotates Out in 2027
Early 2027 Standard rotation, alongside the Prerelease of Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, removes Wilds of Eldraine, The Lost Caverns of Ixalan, Murders at Karlov Manor, Outlaws of Thunder Junction with The Big Score, Bloomburrow, and Duskmourn: House of Horror; the other 14 sets stay, Arena's date is February 2, 2027, the release is February 5, 2027, and no paper date is published.

| Cavern of Souls | The Lost Caverns of Ixalan |
| Inspiring Vantage | Outlaws of Thunder Junction |
| Dragonhawk, Fate's Tempest | Bloomburrow |

The best-placed list loses eight named cards at rotation, including two lands and six sideboard cards. Its other nonbasic cards have at least one printing in a set that stays, so the complete named core does not leave at once. A card is listed as leaving only when all of its Standard-set printings are in a leaving set; bonus-sheet and promo printings were not checked.

Tips for Piloting Boros Dragons Standard deck
-
Sequence Momo around the first flying spell. The first non-Lemur creature spell with flying you cast each turn costs {1} less, and Momo gets +1/+1 until end of turn whenever another flying creature enters. Decide the order of both before you cast anything.
-
Use Sarkhan's behold choice deliberately. When Sarkhan enters, you can choose a Dragon you control or reveal one from your hand. That creates a Treasure, and later Dragon entries put +1/+1 counters on Sarkhan.
-
Track Smaug's Treasure count before declaring the attack. Smaug creates a Treasure at upkeep, then its attack trigger deals damage equal to the number of Treasures you control to any target.
-
Know what Magmatic Hellkite gives back. It destroys a target nonbasic land, but the opponent may search for a basic land and put it onto the battlefield tapped with a stun counter. Both the land and its next untap are affected.
-
Remember Voice of Victory's two restrictions. An attack mobilizes two tapped and attacking 1/1 red Warriors sacrificed at the next end step, while opponents can't cast spells during your turn.
-
Read the sideboard effects literally. Get Lost destroys a creature, enchantment, or planeswalker but gives its controller two Map tokens. Seam Rip exiles a nonland permanent with mana value 2 or less until Seam Rip leaves, while Pyroclasm deals 2 damage to each creature and Split Up destroys all tapped or all untapped creatures.
