Jeskai Artifacts Standard Deck: 2 Wins, Two Builds

20 min readBy Reid MarshLast reviewed
Castle Doom, Simulacrum Synthesizer and United Battlefront cards fanned out, the core of the Jeskai artifacts Standard deck

The Jeskai artifacts Standard deck won two of the nine Magic Online Standard events played October 1 to October 7, 2026, but the label covers two different decks. One is a Jeskai (white-blue-red) artifact pile built around Castle Doom, Simulacrum Synthesizer and United Battlefront, which took both wins. The other is an Azorius (white-blue) control deck built on The Theorist, Jace Beleren, which put 4 of its 11 lists into the top eight.

BaseMTG's hand classification puts both under "Jeskai/Azorius Artifacts" because every one of the 22 lists plays Pinnacle Starcage. This guide splits them, gives both lists and shows what leaves Standard in 2027.

TL;DR: 22 of 267 top-32 lists (8.2%) are Jeskai/Azorius Artifacts: 8 Castle Doom lists with both first places and 11 Azorius Jace lists with 4 top-eight finishes, plus 3 lists that are neither. The winning Castle Doom list plays 4 Simulacrum Synthesizer and 12 other artifacts with mana value 3 or more; the Jace build runs 5 Reality Fracture cards. Nine nonbasic cards in the winning Castle Doom list rotate out in early 2027.

Jeskai Artifacts Standard Deck: What It Is (quick answer)

The Jeskai artifacts Standard deck in this sample is a 60-card list with 27 artifacts and 37 nonland cards in total, built around Simulacrum Synthesizer's Construct tokens, United Battlefront and Castle Doom's Doombots. Its two first places came from the same 75 cards.

The Azorius version shares Pinnacle Starcage and the white-blue mana base but plays a different game: counterspells, Day of Judgment and Jace planeswalkers.

Key Takeaways

  • 22 of 267 lists are Jeskai/Azorius Artifacts, with 6 top-eight finishes (27.3%) and 2 wins. All 267 lists had a 27.0% top-eight rate, so the archetype as a whole sits at the field average.
  • The Castle Doom build has 8 lists, placements 1, 1, 9, 11, 14, 21, 24 and 28. Both wins came from one list, played card for card by five pilots.
  • The Azorius Jace build has 11 lists, placements 5, 5, 6, 7, 9, 12, 12, 13, 16, 19 and 21: four top-eight finishes and no win.
  • Pinnacle Starcage, Hallowed Fountain and Floodfarm Verge appear in all 22 main decks.
  • The Jace build runs five cards first printed in Reality Fracture. The winning Castle Doom list runs none.
  • The first Standard metagame report after Reality Fracture counted this label with 160 lists; this guide uses the 267 lists through October 7.

Overview: Jeskai Artifacts Standard Deck After Reality Fracture

The sample is nine Magic Online Standard events from October 1 to October 7, 2026. Each event page publishes its top-32 decklists, or every decklist when fewer than 32 players entered, giving 267 lists. A list counts as Jeskai/Azorius Artifacts when its nonland spells are white and blue (with or without red) and it plays Simulacrum Synthesizer, The Mind Stone or Pinnacle Starcage. The label is a BaseMTG hand classification, not an official one.

Splitting the 22 lists by their key cards gives three groups:

BuildListsPlacementsTop 8WinsPlayers
Castle Doom (white-blue-red)81, 1, 9, 11, 14, 21, 24, 28228
Azorius Jace (white-blue)115, 5, 6, 7, 9, 12, 12, 13, 16, 19, 21409
Neither39, 16, 21003

The Castle Doom lists came from these events: Standard Challenge 32 on October 2 (45 players): 1; Standard Challenge 32 on October 2 (48 players): 1; Standard Challenge 32 Special on October 5 (59 players): 2; Standard Challenge 32 Special on October 6 (44 players): 2; Standard Challenge 16 Special on October 7 (27 players): 1; Standard Challenge 16 Special on October 7 (24 players): 1. The Azorius Jace lists came from: Standard Challenge 16 on October 4 (38 players): 1; Standard Challenge 32 Special on October 5 (59 players): 2; Standard Challenge 16 Special on October 6 (24 players): 1; Standard Challenge 32 Special on October 6 (44 players): 1; Standard Challenge 16 Special on October 7 (27 players): 2; Standard Challenge 16 Special on October 7 (24 players): 4.

The Castle Doom results are lopsided: two wins, then 9th, 11th, 14th, 21st, 24th and 28th. The Jace results are steadier but never won. The sample can't say which build is better, since it holds only published top-32 lists and no match records.

Why the Jeskai Artifacts Standard Deck Works

The winning Castle Doom msh-263msh-263 card artmsh-263Shop on TCGplayer list has 27 artifacts among its 37 nonland cards.

Full card images of Castle Doom, Simulacrum Synthesizer and United Battlefront, three of the cards the Castle Doom lists are built around Castle Doom, Simulacrum Synthesizer and United Battlefront, the three cards shown here. All three are four-ofs in the winning list. Image: card images from Scryfall, © Wizards of the Coast.

Castle Doom is a land with three abilities: it taps for {C}, it taps for one mana of any color that can only be spent on an artifact spell, and for {3}, {T} and sacrificing an artifact it creates a 3/3 Robot Villain artifact creature token named Doombot at sorcery speed. The list runs four copies. Its any-color mana matters because the winning list has no Mountain: the only red card is The Fire Crystal, which costs {2}{R}{R}.

Simulacrum Synthesizer is also a four-of. It scries 2 when it enters, and whenever another artifact you control with mana value 3 or greater enters, it creates a 0/0 Construct artifact creature token that gets +1/+1 for each artifact you control. The list has 12 other artifacts with mana value 3 or more: 3 Perilous Snare, 3 Pinnacle Starcage eoe-27eoe-27 card arteoe-27Shop on TCGplayer, 3 Repurposing Bay, 1 Braided Net, 1 The Fire Crystal and 1 White Auracite.

United Battlefront digs for them. For {3}{W} it looks at the top seven cards and puts up to two noncreature, nonland permanent cards with mana value 3 or less onto the battlefield. Counting copies, 27 of the 60 cards in the winning list are legal picks: 25 artifacts (everything except The Fire Crystal and White Auracite) and 2 Authority of the Consuls.

The cheap artifacts and Pinnacle Starcage

The mana value 1 and 2 artifacts are Candy Trail (scry 2, then cash in for 3 life and a card), Cryogen Relic eoe-52eoe-52 card arteoe-52Shop on TCGplayer (draws a card when it enters or leaves), The Mind Stone msh-21msh-21 card artmsh-21Shop on TCGplayer (indestructible, taps for {W}), Spring-Loaded Sawblades (flash, 5 damage to a tapped creature when it enters), Clay-Fired Bricks and The Irencrag.

Pinnacle Starcage is the odd card out in that group. Its enter trigger exiles all artifacts and creatures with mana value 2 or less until it leaves the battlefield, and "all" includes your own. The winning list has 11 copies of such cheap artifacts. Cryogen Relic is the clear beneficiary, because it draws a card whenever it leaves the battlefield and exile counts as leaving. All 22 lists in this sample run Starcage in the main deck.

The Azorius Jace Build

The Azorius lists are a different deck. All 11 main decks include 15 of the same cards, from The Theorist, Jace Beleren fra-43fra-43 card artfra-43Shop on TCGplayer and Countersculpt fra-25fra-25 card artfra-25Shop on TCGplayer to Day of Judgment, Erode and Get Lost.

The Theorist, Jace Beleren costs {2}{U}{U}. At the beginning of each opponent's draw step you draw a card, its +1 creates a 1/1 Illusion, and its minus 2 returns an artifact or creature the opponent controls to its owner's hand. The lists average 3.9 copies.

Countersculpt (also 3.9 copies on average) is the Jace deck's counterspell for {U}{U}. As an additional cost you must behold a Jace or pay {1}, and it ends with Empower Jace 1: put a loyalty counter on a Jace token you control, or create a blue Jace planeswalker token first if you have none. Jace's Machinations fra-32fra-32 card artfra-32Shop on TCGplayer (3.2 copies) is an instant that lets you activate loyalty abilities of Jace planeswalkers you control at instant speed until end of turn, and it has Empower Jace 8. Fatehold Charm fra-132fra-132 card artfra-132Shop on TCGplayer (in 10 lists) and Theorist's Sanctum fra-191fra-191 card artfra-191Shop on TCGplayer (in all 11, 2.0 copies) also empower a Jace.

Consult the Star Charts, in 10 of the 11 lists at 4.0 copies, looks at as many cards as you have lands and takes one into your hand, or two if kicked. Three Steps Ahead, No More Lies, Get Lost, Erode and Day of Judgment fill out the interaction.

What Reality Fracture Adds

Reality Fracture matters to the Azorius build and not at all to the winning Castle Doom list. Five cards in the Jace lists were first printed in the set: The Theorist, Jace Beleren, Countersculpt, Jace's Machinations and Theorist's Sanctum (each in all 11 lists) and Fatehold Charm (10 lists). Across the 22 lists, 12 run at least one Reality Fracture card, and 11 of those are the Jace lists.

The Castle Doom winner has none. Its core cards come from The Big Score (Simulacrum Synthesizer), Tarkir: Dragonstorm (United Battlefront), Edge of Eternities (Pinnacle Starcage, Cryogen Relic) and Marvel Super Heroes (Castle Doom, The Mind Stone).

Step-by-Step: How to Play Jeskai Artifacts in Standard

1. Cast Simulacrum Synthesizer before the three-mana artifacts. It only makes a Construct when another artifact with mana value 3 or greater enters after it, so cast the three-mana artifacts (Perilous Snare, Repurposing Bay, Pinnacle Starcage) once it is on the battlefield.

2. Use cheap artifacts as mana and as fuel. The Mind Stone taps for {W}, Candy Trail scries 2 when it enters, Cryogen Relic draws a card when it enters or leaves, and Spring-Loaded Sawblades deals 5 damage to a tapped creature when it enters. Castle Doom can sacrifice any of them for a Doombot.

3. Count your own cheap artifacts before casting Pinnacle Starcage. It exiles every artifact and creature with mana value 2 or less, not just your opponent's. Check what you would lose first: Candy Trail, The Mind Stone and Spring-Loaded Sawblades are exiled too, while Cryogen Relic draws a card.

4. Keep colored mana for the spells Castle Doom cannot pay for. Its any-color mana only pays for artifact spells. United Battlefront, Day of Judgment, Erode and Authority of the Consuls need white from Plains, Hallowed Fountain, Floodfarm Verge or the other dual lands.

5. Treat United Battlefront as a way to find two cheap permanents. It puts up to two noncreature, nonland permanent cards with mana value 3 or less onto the battlefield, so with Simulacrum Synthesizer out, hitting a three-mana artifact creates a Construct.

Jeskai Artifacts Standard Deck Decklist (60 Cards and 15 Sideboard)

This is DuduDeNunu's first-place deck from the Standard Challenge 32 Special on October 5, 2026, a 59-player event (MTGO event page). -=Alfa=- won the October 6 Standard Challenge 32 Special (44 players) with the same 75 cards (MTGO event page).

Bar chart of the winning Castle Doom main deck by mana value: 8 cards at 0 to 1, 8 at 2, 14 at 3 and 7 at 4 The winning list has 37 nonland cards and 23 lands. Nothing costs 5 or more. Mana values come from Scryfall. Image: BaseMTG chart from the mtgo.com decklists, mana values from Scryfall.

Main deck, 60 cards

  • Artifacts, 27: 1 Braided Net, 3 Candy Trail, 1 Clay-Fired Bricks, 2 Cryogen Relic, 3 Perilous Snare, 3 Pinnacle Starcage, 3 Repurposing Bay, 4 Simulacrum Synthesizer, 2 Spring-Loaded Sawblades, 1 The Fire Crystal, 1 The Irencrag, 2 The Mind Stone, 1 White Auracite.

All 8 Castle Doom lists play Rest in Peace, Day of Judgment, Authority of the Consuls and Torpor Orb in the sideboard. Astelli Reclaimer and Pinnacle Starcage appear in 7 and Krang, Master Mind in 6. Five of the eight lists have identical 75 cards, so these counts mostly describe one list.

The Azorius Jace list

For comparison, this is oOMegaGenesis's fifth-place list from the same October 5 event (MTGO event page), one of two fifth-place Jace lists, and the one from the larger field.

  • Artifacts, 2: 2 Pinnacle Starcage.
  • Other spells, 32: 4 Consult the Star Charts, 4 Countersculpt, 1 Day of Judgment, 2 Erode, 2 Fatehold Charm, 4 Get Lost, 4 Jace's Machinations, 3 No More Lies, 3 Seam Rip, 4 The Theorist, Jace Beleren, 1 Three Steps Ahead.

  • Cards: 2 Beza, the Bounding Spring, 2 Captain Marvel, Earth's Protector, 1 Day of Judgment, 2 Disdainful Stroke, 1 Elspeth, Storm Slayer, 1 Emeritus of Ideation, 1 Erode, 2 Flashfreeze, 2 Pinnacle Starcage, 1 Seam Rip.

Across all 11 Jace lists, Pinnacle Starcage, Beza, the Bounding Spring, Disdainful Stroke and Flashfreeze appear in every sideboard, Emeritus of Ideation in 10 and Captain Marvel, Earth's Protector in 9. Disdainful Stroke counters a spell with mana value 4 or greater, and Flashfreeze counters a red or green spell.

What Rotates Out in 2027

Standard rotation happens once per year after the first premier set Prerelease of the year, when the six oldest sets leave. The Standard format page lists those six as Duskmourn: House of Horror, Bloomburrow, Outlaws of Thunder Junction with The Big Score, Murders at Karlov Manor, The Lost Caverns of Ixalan and Wilds of Eldraine. The 2027 rotation timing has its own guide.

Nine nonbasic cards in the winning Castle Doom list leave, which is 18 of its 60 cards. The Jace list shown here loses 5 nonbasic cards, 14 of 60.

Simulacrum Synthesizer, the engine of the Castle Doom list, is the biggest loss, since it is a four-of. Castle Doom, United Battlefront, Pinnacle Starcage, The Mind Stone and Cryogen Relic stay. A card is listed as leaving only when all of its Standard-set printings are in a leaving set; bonus-sheet and promo printings were not checked, and The Big Score is counted with Outlaws of Thunder Junction because the Standard page lists them together.

Tips for Piloting Jeskai Artifacts in Standard

  • Check how many artifacts you control before you rely on Constructs. A Construct is 0/0 with +1/+1 for each artifact you control, so it shrinks or dies when your artifacts are removed or exiled, including by your own Pinnacle Starcage.

  • Plan the red mana. The winning Castle Doom list has one red card, The Fire Crystal, and its only red source is Castle Doom's artifact-only any-color mana. The Fire Crystal needs {R}{R}, so it takes two Castle Doom taps, and Castle Doom can pay for it because it is an artifact spell.

  • Pay Countersculpt's extra cost correctly. Without a Jace to behold, it costs {1}{U}{U}. Once a Jace token exists, beholding it makes Countersculpt cost {U}{U}.

  • Enter Theorist's Sanctum untapped when you can. It enters tapped unless you behold a Jace, so keep it for a turn on which you can reveal one from your hand.

  • Read the sideboard cards literally. Rest in Peace exiles all graveyards when it enters and replaces any card going to a graveyard with exile. Torpor Orb stops creatures entering from causing abilities to trigger.

What Players Are Saying About Jeskai Artifacts

The most detailed community account of the deck is a Jeskai Artifacts RCQ report on r/spikes posted on September 20, 2026, before Reality Fracture was released, so it describes an earlier build of the deck. One reader replied, “This was a well informed report, thanks OP and cheers on having fun and playing jeskai artifacts. I love that deck and it’s cool knowing it still holds up against current meta.” (nancyglass).

The report's author, themoinmo, explained in a reply why they like Irencrag: “Yeah, if you play it on T2, you have the ability to play Repurposing Bay on T4 AND use its ability to grab whatever you need in that moment...” The comment is embedded below.

On video, MTG Joe's Arena Best of One ranking after Reality Fracture lists a Jeskai Artifacts decklist among the decks linked in its description. We have not matched that Arena list to the Magic Online lists counted here.

Our Take on Jeskai Artifacts

Based on the figures above, Castle Doom is the build with proof of results: both wins came from one list that five pilots played card for card. The Azorius Jace build has more lists but no win. As a whole, the archetype sits at the field average, with a top-eight rate of 27.3% against 27.0% for all 267 lists, so these results alone do not make it a top-tier pick.

One caution follows from the data: the winning Castle Doom list has no Reality Fracture cards, so its results do not show what the new set added. The Jace build is where the set matters. That is our judgment, drawn from the lists above and the community posts quoted in this section.

Method and Data Checks

We read the nine Magic Online Standard event pages for October 1 to 7, 2026, counted every list with two independent parsers, and matched each number in this guide to a quoted line from its source (the mtgo.com event pages, Scryfall, and Wizards of the Coast's rules and format pages). The Reddit comments and the video description were read on the original pages. The deck label is BaseMTG's own classification, so another tracker may group the same lists differently.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Jeskai artifacts Standard deck? It is a white-blue-red Standard deck with 27 artifacts among 37 nonland cards, built around Castle Doom, Simulacrum Synthesizer and United Battlefront. BaseMTG groups it with Azorius Jace lists under "Jeskai/Azorius Artifacts" because all 22 lists play Pinnacle Starcage. The label is a hand classification, not an official one.

How many Jeskai artifacts lists made the top 32? Eight Castle Doom lists made the published top 32 in nine Magic Online events played October 1 to 7, 2026, and two of them won. Another 11 Azorius Jace lists and 3 others share the label, so 22 of the 267 lists, or 8.2%, carry it, with 6 top-eight finishes.

Who won with Jeskai artifacts? DuduDeNunu won the October 5 Standard Challenge 32 Special with 59 players, and -=Alfa=- won the October 6 Standard Challenge 32 Special with 44 players. Both played the same 60-card main deck and 15-card sideboard, and five of the eight Castle Doom lists in this sample played those exact 75 cards.

What does Castle Doom do in Standard? Castle Doom taps for {C}, or for one mana of any color that can only be spent on an artifact spell. For {3}, {T} and sacrificing an artifact it creates a 3/3 Doombot artifact creature token, but only at sorcery speed. The winning list runs four copies and has no Mountain.

Does Pinnacle Starcage hurt your own artifacts? Yes. Its enter trigger exiles all artifacts and creatures with mana value 2 or less until it leaves the battlefield, and "all" includes yours. The winning Castle Doom list has 11 such cheap artifacts. Cryogen Relic draws a card when it leaves, so exile gives value, but Candy Trail and The Mind Stone are exiled too.

What rotates from Jeskai artifacts in 2027? Nine nonbasic cards in the winning Castle Doom list leave: Braided Net, Candy Trail, Clay-Fired Bricks, Floodfarm Verge, Fomori Vault, Meticulous Archive, Simulacrum Synthesizer, Spring-Loaded Sawblades and The Irencrag. Each is printed in Standard only in a leaving set, which removes 18 of the 60 cards.

Is the Azorius Jace deck better than Castle Doom? The sample cannot say. The Jace build had 4 top-eight finishes from 11 lists and no win, and Castle Doom had 2 from 8 lists and both wins. These are placements from published top-32 lists, with no match records or win rates, so neither build can be called better.
